about triathlonscotland

triathlonscotland is the national governing body for triathlon, duathlon and multi-sport and is responsible for governing all matters in relation to these sports in Scotland. We provide a broad and comprehensive range of services to our 2500+ members, 43 clubs and 9000 participation base in Scotland.

Our services are delivered through a dedicated team of individuals, which include a well populated, voluntary Executive Board and a small but growing core of staff. The organisation is supported by a broad and enthusiastic base of volunteers, who manage the clubs and events which are the mainstay of the sport.

As this relatively young sport evolves, so the organisation seeks to build a workforce of committed coaches and officials. Crucially, in a sport which only exists in its competitive format, triathlonscotland continues to produce home grown World Champions.

  • Novice 400m swim + 10km bike + 2.5km run
  • Sprint 750m swim + 20km bike + 5km run
  • Standard (Olympic) 1500m swim + 40km bike + 10km rum
  • Middle Distance 1900m swim + 90km bike + 13.1 mile run
  • Long Distance 4000m swim + 120km bike + 30km run
  • Ironman 3.9km swim + 180km bike + 42km run

You may find some of the races near you have slightly different distances which is normal as the distance is determined by the location and course.

If you’re interested in triathlon, then why not look for a race near you or download some tips and advice for novices. Triathlon is a sport for all, and you can either take part as an individual or as part of a relay team. There is also a list of clubs which can be downloaded. Why not find your nearest club, pop along and introduce yourself as there are lots of people of varying ages and levels of ability.
