Area Skills School Debuts this Weekend16th Nov 2016 | Written by LesleyJ
This weekend sees the first sessions in our new exciting initiative Area Skills School.
Area Skills School is an exciting initiative and a great opportunity for young triathletes to develop their triathlon skills in a fun and engaging environment.
On Saturday (19 November) the West and South West will take place, led by Crawford White, whilst on Sunday (20 November) the East/Borders, led by Kevin MacArthur, Tayside and Fife, led by Graham Coull and the North led by Ewan Stirling will all take place.
Aimed at young people aged 11-16 years Area Skills School is designed to ensure that young triathletes come together and receive additional coaching in a fun, creative and inspiring learning environment.
The sessions are available to all young triathletes regardless of experience and we are pleased to see a good number of sign-ups for our first sessions.
Triathlon Scotland Head of Performance, Fiona Lothian commented: “We are really excited about this initiative. Area Skills School will help to ensure that young athletes interested and actively taking part in triathlon are further supported to pursue their own route through the sport, at their own rate of development.”
The work at the area skills schools will complement both single sport clubs and triathlon clubs, as well as being a great place for those who are not a member of a club to meet other young people interested in the sport.
