Child Protection

Sport plays an important part in children's lives. It allows them to make new friends, stay healthy and develop new skills. But children must be safe and adults must have the skills and knowledge to keep them safe.

Clubs have a responsibility to ensure that a club has the correct policies and infrastructure in place to ensure that children and vulnerable adults are able to take part in a safe and positive environment.

Children 1st and sportscotland have worked together to create the Child Protection in Sport Service which was established in 2002 in response to a growing need for advice, training and resources to help sports organisations to keep children safe in and through sport. The aim of the service is to ensure that children who take part in sport are safe and secure.

Please visit their website to find out more information and to see further advice, resources and training on the development and implementation of child protection policies and procedures.
