Tutoring
Having a quality coach education workforce is vital in achieving a credible and high quality coach education programme which meets the needs of the sport.
We currently have six trained Coach Education Tutors who deliver Coach Education courses in Scotland and this will increase as the demand for coaching and coaching programmes grows.
Become a coach educator or assessor
triathlonscotland works with sportscotland and British Triathlon to train tutors to nationally recognised standards. In Scotland, only accredited educators and assessors can deliver the courses on behalf of the Scottish Qualifications Authority, the awarding body of UKCC in Scotland.

Selection Criteria
The criteria for application to become a triathlonscotland Coach Education Tutor is outlined below, but all applications will be considered:
Essential

An academic qualification at A level Equivalent or above, in a relevant discipline, eg. sports science, physical education, or sports coaching

A triathlon UKCC Level 2 or 3 Coaching qualification

Actively coaching, with a demonstration of a minimum of 24 months experience of active coaching

A positive attitude towards the development of coaching, supporting the aims and objectives of triathlonscotland and British Triathlon Coach Education
Desirable

Experience of tutoring and/or facilitation/ lecturing

Experience/Qualification in Assessing

A working knowledge of portfolio or SQA based Qualifications
What will the role include?
Trained tutors are expected to shadow a course prior to becoming fully qualified. They are then expected to:

Deliver the Coach Education programme on courses to a high standard of professionalism

Deliver courses at weekends

Attend specific tutor and assessor training courses

Represent triathlonscotland and British Triathlon in a positive and professional manner at all times

Satisfy the expectations of the course candidates

Set aside an appropriate amount of time before the course to prepare material and plan any activities

Be available for candidate support during and post-course

Be available for additional development training days up to two per year
In return for this work triathlonscotland will pay a highly competitive daily rate of pay, train you to appropriate standards and provide on-going support throughout your development.
