triathlonscotland would like to remind everyone that without the fantastic support from volunteers across the country, we would not have such a successful sport. We need more volunteers to enable the sport to grow and continue to give enjoyment to us all. Find out how you can play your part.
There are a numbers of areas in which you can contribute, if competing is not your scene or you would like to put something back into the sport you get so much out of then read on. To discuss any of these areas in more detail or to volunteer your services, please email Development Officer Brown Ferguson
Even if you only have a couple of hours a month to spare, there are several areas that you can get involved with.
The race calendar changes almost constantly and new events are always a welcome addition. Anyone interested in organising an event should first contact the Director of Domestic Events on events@triathlonscotland.org. New events take many shapes and forms and we are always keen to support and advise any organisation or individual looking to take this role on.
More details including the Race Organisers Handbook can be found in the events section of the site.
It’s great when we go to events and these are well run with lots of marshals and helpers. But this doesn’t just happen by accident. We have a number of high profile events taking place throughout Scotland and additional helpers will always be welcome.
It’s not just about standing on corners either. People are needed to help with everything from setting up courses, transition and assisting on poolside to manning water stations and handing out medals, to highlight just a few. All of these tasks are vital and race organisers will always welcome additional help.
So if you are interested in helping at any events then get in touch with the organiser directly or use the contact email above.
One of the most rewarding areas of triathlon, we are always looking for people to get involved in coaching. Maybe you want to get more involved with your club, help some juniors locally or pass on some of your experience to others?
All of this can bring huge personal rewards and you will be included in the triathlonscotland coaches group where you can ask or give advice, contact other coaches and keep up-to-date with current coaching practice.
There are five levels of triathlon coach and more details are available on the courses and content on the coaching page.
As the main area of officiating this is an important role in terms ensuring everyone gets the opportunity to race equally and fairly. In addition this role helps race organisers on the day with the delivery of the event and provides valuable feedback from an objective source on event standards.
Refereeing is both simple and rewarding to be involved in and all courses have been designed at a UK level. For more details and to download the form, click here.
After a one off follow-up shadowing session with an experienced referee, you’ll be ready to go and part of the triathlonscotland refereeing team. Contact should be made with Brown Ferguson who will put you in touch with the refereeing co-ordinator where you will get all the necessary paperwork to get you started and keep track of the events you would like to be present at.
