26th Jul 2018 | Written by Carolyn Reid

It’s another Championship weekend at home with the Triathlon Scotland National Aquathlon Championships taking place alongside the Beastie Triathlon!

Saturday includes two open water/offroad cycle triathlons, the Beastie and the Wee Beastie, as well as the Triathlon Scotland National Aquathlon Championships. Held on the banks of Loch Lomond at Balloch Castle Country Park, over 100 aquathletes will line up to try and secure a Championship title. Natalie Stewart returns to fight for her fifth consecutive Scottish Aquathlon title and in the Men’s race, with both Roberts brothers missing the race, all eyes are on 2017 bronze medallist Lewis Strachan to see if he can take home the title!

Also taking place in Scotland are the St Mary’s Loch Triathlon and Aquabike events. The triathlon includes a 1500m swim, 40km bike in the Yarrow and Moffat Water valleys followed by a final 10km run along the Southern Upland Way to the Eastern end of St Mary’s Loch. The Aquabike race will follow the same swim and bike route, with competitors finishing after the cycle.
