Sunday was full of Duathlon series races with the second race in the Bowhill Winter Series and the final race of the ABC Monikie Winter Series taking place.

In Bowhill, the winning race time was estimated to be around one hour. However, it was much faster than expected with the top 26 competitors completing the race under the one hour mark.

The top three men to finish were Greig Walker (50:55), Joseph Perkins (51:16) and Chris Stirling (52:36). Greig Walker defended his first-place finish from the first round of the series while Chris Stirling maintained his third-place spot.

The top three female finishers were Edinburgh Road Club’s Rosemary Byde (1:00:30), Borders Triathlete Caroline Wallace (01:02:02) and Sara de Pablo (01:04:59) also from Edinburgh Road Club. Caroline Wallace and Rosemary Byde were both able to improve their positions from the last race where they finished 2nd and 3rd respectively behind Scottish Mountain Biker Isla Short.

Moving North, the weather was again favourable for the last round of the Angus Bike Chain Monikie Winter Duathlon Series. Over 100 competitors took part in the series with 44 individuals completing all three races.

The top three series finishers in the male category were Velocity 44’s Ewan Taylor (03:01:34), Brian Mclellan (03:02:57) from Grangemouth Triathlon Club and Robert Harrison (03:05:03) from Monifieth Triathlon Club. All three men defended their positions finishing in the same positions in all of the races.

In the women’s category, the series winner was Katie Bain (03:39:19) who was followed by Carla Sutherland (03:52:03) and Grangemouth Triathlon club’s Linda Lucey (03:57:49). Just like in the men’s race, all three women maintained their finishing positions across the three races.
