Due to singer Eminem playing at Bellahouston Park in the summer, it will now not be possible to host the Scottish Youth Championships on the published date of Saturday 10 August.
A new earlier date has been scheduled for Saturday 22 June which is the only viable date that the Council could offer to the event hosts – Fusion Triathlon Club. At present the date for the Edinburgh Aquathlon scheduled for 23 June is provisional and the confirmed date will be published as soon as possible.
Although the date change for the Scottish Championships is due to unforeseeable circumstances, we would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to family or other competitive plans.
Scottish Selection Update – IRC
For Scottish athletes, the full 2013 Inter Regional Championships (IRC) selection policy will be circulated soon. But for those wanting to enter and plan their year the following information should help give you plenty of multi-sport experience.
It is important to note that the format for the IRC has changed with it now being focused on just the Tristar 2 (11-12yrs) and Tristar 3 (13-14yrs) age groups.
Currently, The Scottish Youth Championships will be the main opportunity for selection. Entry to the championship wave at the Scottish Youth championships will be dependent on the IRC ranking list.
The IRC ranking list selection will be based on domestic youth triathlons (East Fife, Bishopbriggs and Scottish Schools), youth aquathlon races in the Legends Ranking Series and the open water aquathlon at Lochore until and including 16 June.
Athletes wanting to be considered for selection to the championship wave should aim to complete at least three of these races as noted above (one of which should be a triathlon).
The details of the IRC selection process will be posted as soon as possible on the IRC page of our website.
