On Sunday 26 November we welcomed members to our Triathlon Scotland 2018 Exchange event, which took place at Glasgow Caledonian University to celebrate a great year for the sport.
The day began with a short annual general meeting where CEO Jane Moncrieff highlighted the successes of the year for the sport including several major event medals won by Scottish athletes, exciting developments thanks to the European Championships in Glasgow, and a vote of thanks for the contribution that our coaches, volunteers and officials make all year round. Rob Mitchell was welcomed to the Board as our new Commerical Director and it was also the first opportunity to unveil our annual video filmed and edited by ImacImages Active Lifestyle Photography.
Following the AGM we celebrated the Year of the Young Person with a panel discussion featuring Marc Austin, Sophia Green, Calum Young and Jessica Turnbull. All talked about their experience in the sport and their respective achievements in 2018 including the Commonwealth Games for Marc and Sophia who was travelling reserve. The Legends Ranking Series is a special membership benefit and is enjoyed by our members and clubs across Scotland. The Legends Ranking Series recognises and rewards consistent participation in our permitted events. Members gain points while participating in the Legends Ranking Series events and these points can eventually lead to an overall and / or age group prize.
We also have prizes for our affiliated triathlon clubs which is hotly contested each year. We have two categories, large club (150+ members) and small club (1-149 members) and to determine the winners, we add up all eligible club member individual ranking points. Our winners in 2018 were Fusion Triathlon Club (large youth club) and East Fife Triathlon Club (small youth club). In the adult club standings, our winners were Fleet Feet Triathletes (large club) and Perth Triathlon Club (small club).
Our overall and age group winners can all be found on our Legends Ranking Series page here. Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to everyone that came along and contributed to Exchange 2018, it was once again a fantastic event.
