Fiona Lothian to Step Down as Head of Performance Pathways

4th Nov 2025 | Written by Pamela Sneddon

After 11 years at Triathlon Scotland, Head of Performance Pathways, Fiona Lothian, will leave the organisation this Christmas.

Under Fiona’s leadership, we have seen the establishment of the National Triathlon Centre in partnership with the University of Stirling providing a world class environment for athletes aiming to progress along the British Triathlon pathway. She has also overseen the development of the Triathlon Scotland Academy and supported athletes progressing through to the British system. These efforts have contributed to medals at the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games.

Speaking about her departure, Fiona said, “It has been a genuine privilege to work with so many outstanding young athletes and to play a small part in their journeys – supporting their growth and development both in sport and as people.

From the highs of medals at major championships to the tough moments when injury or illness cut things short, I’ve always tried to keep the athlete at the heart of every decision.

Triathlon Scotland has an incredible team of coaches and support staff, and it feels like the right time for someone else to take up the reins.

I’m grateful for the experiences, the people, and the privilege of contributing to such an inspiring community.”

Steve Paige, CEO, said “It has been a honour to have Fiona as a colleague, and I will genuinely miss her guidance and support. She has played a major part in the success of the Performance Pathway culminating in recent success for our athletes at the World Championships.”

The process of replacing Fiona as Head of Performance Pathways will begin immediately.
