As the demands on high performing coaches shift in modern sport, so too must our approach to coach development. The IGNITE Programme is a 7-month experiential leadership journey for coaches who are seeking to lead well, coach with purpose, and create performance cultures where athletes flourish as whole people.
IGNITE is a practical, reflective and relational space for ambitious coaches to reimagine their leadership, reframe their practice and rediscover the reason they coach.
Pre-requisites and Eligibility Criteria:
- Hold a valid membership with your National Governing Body (Coach Core or Ultimate Membership)
- Age 18+
- Hold a Level 2 coaching qualification (Group Coach Award or equivalent)
- At least 12 months coaching experience at Level 2/Group Coach or above

Structure and Format
The IGNITE programme is a 7-month immersive journey made up of three in-person learning blocks, each designed to challenge, support and develop you as a coach and leader. The programme blends face-to-face experiences with a virtual follow-up to create a powerful and lasting development experience.

Throughout the programme, coaches will explore eight core themes that underpin high-impact, sustainable leadership. These are integrated across each block and brought to life through real-world coaching contexts.
- Coach Identity & Purpose – Explore personal values, motivations and legacy to develop an authentic and sustainable coaching identity.
- Leadership & Influence – Learn how to lead with emotional intelligence, vulnerability and authority. Model trust, clarity and inspiration.
- Understanding Athletes – Explore athlete development using research and theory from sport psychology and coach–athlete relationship frameworks.
- Culture & Context – Examine the pressures and realities of modern sport and the environments coaches are responsible for shaping.
- Communication & Feedback – Develop practical skills in effective questioning, listening and feedback models to increase athlete ownership and trust.
- Ethical & Effective Practice – Critically reflect on assumptions, performance narratives, and traditional methods to align your coaching with what matters.
- Coach Wellbeing & Sustainability – Learn to manage boundaries, imposter syndrome and emotional fatigue to maintain effectiveness and joy in coaching.
- Legacy & Purpose – Articulate your lasting impact and who you are becoming as a coach and leader.
