Club Affiliation

Clubs are at the heart of triathlon in Scotland and well-organised, pro-active clubs provide a fantastic platform for members to make the most of the sport. To ensure that our clubs are maintaining the required standards for their members we ask our clubs to affiliate to us before we recognise and support them. This page provides information on the benefits of affiliation and the process required.

Why Affiliate?

By becoming affiliated to Triathlon Scotland your club is able to access a range of support services and resources, these include:

Affiliation Process and Requirements

The affiliation process is not long or complicated but does require the putting in place a basic committee structure, as well as a governing document and policies. Full details of the requirements can be found in the Affiliation Guide document in the downloads section below.

Once your club has all the requirements in place the final step to becoming an affiliated club is to complete the annual affiliation form, please find this is the ‘useful links’ section below or email clubs@triathlonscotland.org and we will be happy to provide you with this.

2024-2025 Club Affiliation: Changes to Process

What’s new and why?

  • The deadline for submissions is being brought forward by one month to Friday 1 March 2024. This is to allow for additional time for submissions to be checked and for invoices to be issued prior to your current club affiliation expiring.
  • The role of Assistant Wellbeing & Protection Officer will become a mandatory committee position. This is part of our commitment to ensuring we meet the highest level of safeguarding standards in our sport and is in line with recommendations from the Lime Culture review commissioned by British Triathlon.
  • Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Information is required from Club members. This will allow us to support sportscotland’s vision of an active Scotland where everyone benefits from sport.

Triathlon Scotland is committed to ensuring the introduction of the new requirements is as seamless as possible. We will do this by providing resources and information sessions in the run up to the affiliation renewal period, including:

  • Providing examples of the Assistant Wellbeing & Protection Officer role
  • Providing EDI permission forms and questionnaire templates
  • Online Affiliation Information Session on Wednesday 10 January 2024.

For more information, please see our full guide to the changes here.

Support

The Triathlon Scotland Participation Team can offer guidance and support around many areas that can help your club grow and develop to provide your participants with the best experience of swim, bike and run. Areas of support include; club development planning, identifying and applying for funding, engaging and recruiting volunteers, increasing the club profile, event scoping and planning, developing workforce and coaches. We are also on hand to discuss and support club projects and any other areas identified by club committees and members. The Fantastic Club Framework is also available where clubs can complete an online development tool and access to multiple resources.
