School Games 2026

The UK School Games, established after London’s winning 2012 bid and part of the Olympic legacy, is an integrated multi-sport event for the UK’s leading disabled and non-disabled young athletes of school age.

The event seeks to create an inspirational and motivational setting that not only provides talented young athletes with the opportunity to thrive and perform at the highest levels, but also hopes to encourage more young people to take part and succeed in sport.

The competition re-enforces a similar experience to the Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games complete with an Opening Ceremony and an Athletes Village.

The Triathlon competition has a focus on learning and development through multiple race opportunities.

Changes to the 2026 Selection Policy

  • Due to a World Triathlon policy change, we will be unable to take a 4th athlete.

Answers to frequently asked questions

  • Automatic selections are done first:
    • Winner
    • 2nd – if they have the required swim time
    • 3rd – if they have the required swim time
    • There can be no discussion on these, these athletes will be automatically added to the team
  • Discretionary selections are done next AND in order of finish from the trial race:
    • If 2nd does not have the swim time they are dealt with first – if the panel agrees they meet A final standards they will be selected
    • If 3rd does not have the swim time they are dealt with next – if the panel agrees they meet A final standards they will be selected
    • Any further athletes are NOT considered whether they have the swim time or not as they have not finished in the top 3, e.g., an athlete in 5th who has the swim time does NOT jump over the 2nd or 3rd placed athlete in the race if they don’t have the swim time.
    • NO reserves are selected; World Triathlon selection processes do not allow for last minute changes. If in the unlikely event an athlete was injured or ill before the sub deadline (i.e., 5 weeks out from the event) without any chance of making the race we could consider a reserve, this has never happened though and so is not likely to.
