Scotland Team Shines at Inter Regional Championships

This weekend, our Scotland Team of Tristars delivered outstanding performances at the Inter Regional Championships held at Mallory Park, Leicestershire.

Competing against over 300 young triathletes from across the UK, sixteen of our qualified athletes participated in individual races, a transition challenge, and a team relay.

On the Saturday, in the TriStar 3 Open race Ross Allan narrowly missed the podium, finishing 4th, with all four Scottish athletes placing within the top 15. In the TriStar 3 Girls race both Olivia Lyne and Rachel Caves secured top 10 finishes.

On the Sunday, athletes were met with a transition challenge with Rachel Caves placing 2nd overall, and Jack Kidd and Emma Nicholson being the fastest TriStar 2’s. Harrison MacMillan, Conner Birnie, Ross Allan, Olivia Lyne, Emma Nicholson, and Imogen Jarrett all ranked in the top 20 overall.

The day continued with the team relays, where Scotland fielded four teams in a fiercely competitive event. The Scotland B Team (Eddie Niven, Emma Nicholson, Harrison MacMillan & Rachel Caves) won their heat and finished 3rd overall. The Scotland A Team (Elodie Dempster, Ross Allan, Olivia Lyne & Jack Kidd) placed 3rd in their heat and 4th overall.

After tallying the points from both the individual events and the relays, Scotland was awarded Team Gold—a fitting conclusion to an excellent weekend of racing.

Elise Methven, IRC Lead Coach, reflected on the event, saying, “I have accompanied the IRC teams for several years. As a coach involved further along the pathway, it’s fantastic to see the progression in race and skills development that exposure to this kind of event can have.”
