Your monthly snapshot of triathlon life across Scotland – from grassroots to performance pathway.

Orkney Island Games – Triathlon Kicks Off the Action
The triathlon was one of the first events to take place at the Orkney Island Games, and it delivered on every front. Glorious weather, ideal swim conditions, and a fantastic local crowd created a brilliant atmosphere. A huge thank you to the volunteers and technical officials who travelled from clubs and communities across the country to help make the event a success.

More information about the Games can be found here.

Women & Girls – Working Group & Fit for Girls
We held the first meeting of our new Women & Girls Working Group, which included representation from board to club level. This group aims to boost female participation in triathlon by identifying and addressing the barriers that women and girls face when accessing the sport.

The meeting kicked off by agreeing the Terms of Reference for the group. Then it was down to business where the group delved into the barriers to participation, providing advice on policies, and looking at ambassadors for women and girls. The group also reflected on successful initiatives in our swim bike run community.

Women’s Only Run-Bike-Run Event Confirmed
Plans are now finalised for our upcoming Women’s Only Run-Bike-Run event, scheduled for the end of August. This is a key initiative in our drive to increase female participation in multisport and we’re excited to bring it to life.

Our Fit for Girls Working Group is continuing it’s work by helping to organise this event.

If you are interested in the event, or know someone who would like to take part, you can find more information here.

Events – Collaboration, Planning and Championships
A trip to Loughborough this month allowed us to connect with colleagues from British and Welsh Triathlon. Together, we made progress on collaborative initiatives and began coordinating the bidding process for 2026 events—laying the foundation for another exciting year ahead.

We travelled north to support the 2025 Scottish National Sprint Championships in Nairn, engaging with athletes and clubs from across the region. It was a great opportunity to connect in person and celebrate the strength of our triathlon community.

Later this month, we then travelled west to the 2025 Scottish National Aquathlon Championships in Balloch. The event never disappoints, and provided a great experience for all.

Safeguarding – Keeping our Sport Safe
This month also saw the successful completion of Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport training, reinforcing our commitment to safeguarding in sport.

We’ve seen an increase in the number of PVG applications being processed this month—a strong sign that clubs are actively working to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in our sport.

The British Triathlon and Home Nations Code of Practice have been reviewed and refreshed. Read the updated Coaches Code of Practice and the Technical Officials Code of Practice.

Performance Spotlight

It’s been full-steam-ahead for the Performance Pathway team, with athletes racing in Europe and across the UK. Three weekends in June with consecutive British Super Series races (Lochore, Mallory and Bristol), have kept staff busy with athletes on different race schedules.

We’ve had another month of fantastic performances from our elite, squad and National Triathlon Centre athletes.

World Triathlon

The 2025 World Triathlon Championship Series Hamburg saw Beth Potter take a hard fought bronze to make up the podium. Full results can be found here.

Potter was also in action as part of the GB team for the 2025 World Triathlon Mixed Relay Championships Hamburg. Alongside Michael Gar, Olivia Mathias and Connor Bentley they claimed a very respectable 4th place in a competitive field.

British Super Series

The next stop on the British Super Series was at Bristol this month. Our senior female and open athletes put in the effort to produce some great results:

Millie Breese – 1st
Mia Padmanabhan – 13th
Anna Hedley – 17th
Isla Hedley – 20th
Maisie Aubrey – 22nd

Tom Tyler – 22nd
Jack Kennedy – 31st

Results, rankings and information about the British Super Series can be found here.

2025 Europe Triathlon Sprint and Relay Championships Melilla

Alex Robin – 2nd Brit

Full results can be found here.

Triathlon Ireland Sprint National Championships 2025

The trip for three of our National Triathlon Centre athletes to Ireland for the Sprint Championships was not wasted. All three came away with outstanding results.

Cameron Kerr – 1st
Jack Kennedy – 2nd (1st Irish)
Tom Williamson – 8th

Read the race report here.

Back at home, it’s been busy at the National triathlon Centre with most centre based athletes back in after a race block, and six athletes from the Academy joining them for a week on a transition camp.
