Staff Update | November 2025
27th Nov 2025 | Written by Pamela Sneddon
While the race calendar may quieten over the winter months, the energy across our community certainly doesn’t. This is the perfect time for winter training, developing new resources, and planning for what promises to be a fantastic 2026 season. There’s plenty going on across participation, events, and performance and we’re excited to share the latest with you.
Participation
This month we’ve continued to move forward with the next stage of our Coaches Framework, including the development of a new coaches’ assessment tool to support its rollout.
For clubs, feedback gathered through regional calls and discussions with club leaders has helped shape our new Club Equipment Sharing Form. This resource will allow us to build a directory of event equipment that clubs can borrow or rent at a reduced cost, helping to ease event-related expenses. The form is available in the latest club newsletter.
Clubs can now book Club CPD or Coach Education sessions through our new booking form. Bringing courses directly to clubs to reduce travel costs and increase accessibility.
We’ve been busy meeting with the Pentland Triathlon Club and Glasgow Triathlon Club at their AGMs and committee meetings. To round off the month, we’re heading to Inverness on 30 November to visit the final Swim Bike Run Club pilot during their Indoor Tri event.
Looking ahead, work is underway on the 2026 Swim Bike Run Calendar, set to launch in January/February.
We also launched TriHER, our new female-focused event taking place at the end of February. With preparations well underway to ensure it’s a memorable experience. If you missed the launch of the event which focuses on nutrition, mobility and mindset, you can find details and sign up here, https://www.entrycentral.com/TriHer.
Events
It’s been a busy and productive month for Events at Triathlon Scotland. Although it’s the off-season, this period is crucial for planning. We began by attending the British Triathlon Organiser Forum, and also supported the Event Organiser Advisory Panel.
Our annual awards are now finalised and will be announced in December!
We visited the University of Stirling’s Events Conference, gaining valuable insight from industry experts and gathering fresh ideas. Planning continued for our Event Organiser Course, which, although postponed will be rescheduled in the new year. Keep an eye out for the new date.
A highlight for us this month included a productive meeting with Triathlon Ireland to learn about their fantastic initiatives to grow the sport.
Performance
We kicked off the winter season by supporting the Academy Camp at Newbigging, a two-day training camp with 15 athletes from the Academy and Academy Affiliates programme, focusing on winter training development.
Across the month, we also completed the Performance System Reflection with sportscotland, reviewing the performance programme across 16 key areas and identifying priorities for the year ahead.
Finally, with Craigie-Lee Paterson departing, the team has been working closely with her to ensure a smooth and thorough handover.
Governance
We held our 2025 AGM on Monday 24 November, giving us a valuable opportunity to connect with our members, celebrate the year’s achievements, and outline our priorities for the year ahead.
We’re also pleased to share that five Welfare Officers from across the UK have volunteered to join our new Welfare Officer Advisory Panel, with the first meeting set for January. In addition, we’re collaborating with the other Home Nations to shape our 2026 webinar series and Welfare Officer newsletters, ensuring consistent support and shared learning across the triathlon community.
