SBR Club Pilot – Glasgow Leads the Way
Glasgow Triathlon Club hosted its first Swim Bike Run Club pilot event on Sunday, 12 October, at Balfron High School, led by coach Sean and the club’s dedicated coaching team.
Twelve participants took part, including two newcomers with an impressive 83% female turnout, highlighting the club’s welcoming and inclusive spirit.
Participants chose their own challenge, completing a 500m, 750m, or 1500m swim, followed by one or two laps of a 10km bike route, and finishing with a 30 minute run.
True to the Swim Bike Run philosophy, the emphasis was on enjoyment, connection and community rather than competition. The relaxed format encouraged both seasoned triathletes and new members to share the experience, support each other, and celebrate the sport together.
Following the fantastic feedback the Swim Bike Run Club will officially launch in January, giving clubs a clear framework to run their own inter- and intra-club activities, helping more people experience triathlon in a fun, friendly, and accessible way.
Coaching Framework Development
Work continues on the development of a new Coaching Framework designed to bring together key resources and better support coaches at all levels of the sport. This initiative will strengthen our coaching network and ensure we continue to provide a consistent, high-quality development pathway across triathlon in Scotland.
We’re are aiming for a spring release of the new framework and will be piloting it with three coaches in early 2026.
Clubs & University
University club affiliations are now open, and the triathlon season is off to a strong start across campuses.
We held our final regional club call of the year, where clubs planned interclub series’ for 2026. This will expand opportunities for triathlon events and community engagement nationwide. We now have three or four regions interested in being part of a series. The series will look slightly different from region to region taking into account the aims of the series, cost and size. If your club is interested in being part of a series, please get in touch with Calea (contact details below).
Planning meetings with club for 2026 activity have started. Please get in touch with Calea if you would like to arrange a meeting,

Events
It’s been a busy and varied month at Triathlon Scotland. Despite the Celtic Cup being cancelled due to Storm Amy, the planning and collaboration were invaluable. We’re currently working on plans to get the team together and also planning for 2026.
We attended a Mental Health Training Course for Sport Leaders, strengthening our commitment to wellbeing across the sport.
Alongside that, we’ve been coordinating with the other Home Nations for the Scottish and British Championships. These have now been announced, and some of the events are open for entry. Find out more about our Scottish National Championships.
The National Triathlon Series final rankings were announced after an exciting season. Congratulations to all those who took part, and to the winners taking the 2025 titles. Information about the series and 2025 winners can be found on our website. The series is open to all Core and Ultimate Triathlon Scotland members. We’re currently reviewing the 2025 series as we plan for 2026. If you want to be part of the action for 2026, you can purchase membership from the British Triathlon website.
Performance
The month began with outstanding performances on the world stage. Isla Hedley delivered an incredible race at the 2025 XTERRA World Championships, finishing 7th overall, while Mia Padmanabhan impressed with a 9th-place finish in the Youth B category.
Alex Robin continued the success, earning a silver medal at the 2025 Junior World Championships. Returning from injury, his strong performance was a testament to his dedicated recovery and training. Alex also struck gold in the U23 Mixed Team Relay, teaming up with Beth Cook, Millie Breeze (National Triathlon Centre, Stirling), and Oliver Conway.
After back-to-back victories in Weihai and Karlov Vary, Beth Potter capped off her season in style. Her performance at the 2025 World Championships Final secured an overall 3rd place finish in the World Triathlon Championships Series.
Our Age Group Team also delivered fantastic results in Wollongong. Congratulations to everyone who competed and proudly represented Great Britain.
Returning to competition after major surgery earlier this year, Sophia Green made a remarkable comeback at Challenge Barcelona, claiming a brilliant silver medal with an outstanding performance.
Meanwhile back on home soil, the 2025–2026 Academy athletes gathered for their first weekend camp at sportscotland’s National Centre in Inverclyde. Eleven athletes came together for three days of focused training, skill development, and goal setting. Read more about their weekend on our website.
