Triathlon Scotland Performance Pathway Squads 2024-2025

Congratulations to the athletes selected onto the Triathlon Scotland Performance Pathway squads for 2024-2025!

Within the performance pathway at Triathlon Scotland, there are several squads of differing levels of ability.

The Commonwealth Games Squad is aimed at those athletes that have the potential to qualify for the next Commonwealth Games. They have not been selected on the British Triathlon World Class Programme.

The squad is split into two levels of support: Commonwealth Campaign for those that can already evidence Medal or Top 6 Potential for the upcoming Games; and Commonwealth Development for those that can evidence an upward trajectory. They need to meet individual or pilot selection criteria within the selection timeframe.

2024-2025 Commonwealth Games Squad

The Next Generation Squad is aimed at the best developing athletes aged between 16-21 that have the potential to progress onto World Class Programmes. The selection criteria and application process for this is developed in conjunction with British Triathlon, Triathlon England and Welsh Triathlon.

The National Triathlon Centre (NTC) is a partnership between Triathlon Scotland, University of Stirling and British Triathlon. It has been set up to deliver a National Triathlon Pathway Centre at the University of Stirling. It is aligned to the British Triathlon Centre model and creates a pathway that athletes can develop to senior “World Class” level.

The Academy Squad is aimed at exploring the potential of athletes aged 14-18 years old who have shown the basic physical competencies suitable for competitive triathlon. They have started to demonstrate the behaviours required and a commitment to the sport.

The Academy Affiliates Squad is aimed at those athletes who have either not made the swim / run points criteria for the Academy yet or are new to triathlon and have a weaker discipline.
