Drew Matheson Appointed Interim President of Triathlon Scotland

Triathlon Scotland is pleased to announce the appointment of Drew Matheson as its interim President. The election of the President will be brought to the 2025 AGM in November.

Drew’s journey in triathlon began in 2005, following a knee injury that ended his rugby career. Since then, he has become a well-known and respected figure in the sport. He was a founding member of West Lothian Triathlon in 2007 and has been a dedicated technical official since 2013, a role that has taken him to both European and World Championship events.

Although he hasn’t competed since 2018, Drew insists he hasn’t officially retired from racing just yet!

Looking ahead, Drew is eager to connect with clubs and members across the country:

“I’m looking forward to meeting with the community to understand how Triathlon Scotland can better support our athletes and clubs.”

Drew lives in Uphall, West Lothian, and works in the pharmaceutical industry, collaborating with global teams to develop treatments for respiratory conditions.

Allister Short, Chair of Triathlon Scotland, welcomed the appointment:

“I am delighted to welcome Drew as the interim President of Triathlon Scotland. A hugely popular club triathlete and well-respected technical official, Drew brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and credibility to the role.

I know that Drew is incredibly keen to ensure the voices of triathletes and clubs are heard at all levels of our sport, and he will be a great ambassador for triathlon. The Board and Staff Team look forward to working with him in his new role.”

Triathlon Scotland looks forward to Drew’s leadership as the organisation continues to grow and support triathlon communities across the nation.
