Clubbing Together | Montrose Triathlon Club

Last month, Montrose Triathlon Club organised an interclub run between themselves and three local running clubs; Montrose Flyers Running Club, Montrose Metalheads Running Club and St Cyrus Solos Running Club.
The idea came about during a club committee meeting, and they approached the other clubs about running a joint session for their members.
The session was a simple ‘out-and-back’ 10km from Montrose Beach to Scurdie Ness Lighthouse, with the route selected to provide plenty of opportunity for those who didn’t want to run the full distance to double back when they wanted.
The session provided a great opportunity for members to run with people they may not have ran with before, have a good chat and make some new friends. For the triathlon club, it also provided an opportunity to introduce some of the runners to a new sport.
Like how many great club sessions end, the group headed to a local café for some coffee, cake and socialising before everyone headed home.
Montrose Triathlon Club President, Mike Talbot, said of the session:
“Everyone that attended had such a good time and said it had been a great idea but it was so simple really….we just wanted to get some like-minded people together,
“The idea is for one of the other clubs to organise the next one in around three months time, so we will hopefully manage four interclub runs a year.”
