Scottish National Youth Triathlon Championships – Youth Stars Shine
The 2025 Scottish National Youth Triathlon Championships, hosted by TrYthan Triathlon Club at Knockburn Sports Loch, was a spectacular celebration of talent, determination, and teamwork. Over 130 young athletes from clubs across Scotland tested themselves in swim, bike, and run disciplines – all under the watchful eyes of proud family members and enthusiastic coaches.
Thanks to Trythan Triathlon Club and all the volunteers for delivering such a memorable day. It was a brilliant showcase of young talent and the future of triathlon in Scotland.

Lochore Aquathlon: Racing, Rain & Resilience
What a day we had at Lochore Aquathlon! Despite the ever-changing Scottish weather—sunshine, showers, and gusty winds all making appearances—it was a brilliant day of racing and energy.
We kicked things off with the Adult Sprint Race, where athletes braved the early morning chill and shifting skies to set the tone for an exciting day. From there, the action moved into high gear with the British Super Series (BSS) races. These events brought pathway athletes to the line, all competing for valuable series points—and they did not disappoint, delivering thrilling performances in challenging conditions.
Next up, it was the TriStars 2 & 3 who took centre stage, racing not just for personal bests but also for a chance to represent Scotland at the Inter Regional Championships (IRC) later this season. Their determination was on full display, and the competition was fierce.
We wrapped up the day on a lighter note with SBR Family and SBR Mini events—bringing smiles, splashes, and family fun to the lochside. It was a fantastic way to finish a day full of competitive grit and community joy.

Performance Round-Up: A Blistering Start to the Season
This past month has flown by in a whirlwind of racing action and proud moments. Supporting British athletes at the French Junior Championships was a real highlight, especially seeing Alex Robin – competing under his second nationality – deliver a standout 9th place finish.
Back in the UK, it’s been a remote but rewarding month supporting athletes across a packed schedule, including French Grand Prix races, European Cups, and both the European and World Para Championships. The results have been strong, and the momentum is building nicely as we head into a critical stretch of the season.
Looking ahead, June and July are big months for the squad: junior athletes are eyeing qualification for the European Champs, while seniors target European Cups and the British Super Series.
Academy Focus: Podiums and Preparation
Academy athletes have been turning heads and claiming podiums—particularly at the Lochore Sprint Triathlon, where several boys dominated the front of the race. The Scottish National Youth Championships and the Lochore Aquathlon also saw strong showings across both male and female categories.
The focus now shifts to the British Super Series triathlon at Mallory Park. With Super Series points on the line, it’s all to play for.
High Performing Coach Programme: Final Weekend Wrap-Up
The final weekend of the High Performing Coach Programme wrapped up with energy, inspiration, and a true sense of growth. Huge thanks to the tutor, and to all the speakers and mentors who made the programme such a success. We’re already looking ahead – next intake launches November 2025.
Women & Girls Working Group: Breaking Down Barriers
June saw the inaugural meeting of our Women & Girls Working Group, chaired by Rebecca Trengove, Triathlon Scotland Welfare Director. The group brought together voices from across the triathlon community, including club members, coaches, technical officials, and staff. We’re committed to addressing the barriers women and girls face in sport, and this group will play a key role in shaping more inclusive opportunities moving forward.
GTC Duathlon & Trail Race Festival: Balbirnie Park Review
We were out at the GTC Duathlon at Balbirnie House & Park on Wednesday 18 June. Organised by Glenrothes Triathlon Club, the duathlon (run, bike, run) is a firm favourite on calendars.
The atmosphere throughout the evening was brilliant, with club members, supporters, and spectators cheering on competitors all the way to the finish line. Glenrothes Triathlon Club once again delivered a well-organised, inclusive event that perfectly captured the spirit of grassroots multisport.
With glowing feedback like this, it’s easy to see why the event is such a favourite:
“Thanks for organising. A great event, everyone super friendly. I would recommend to anyone of any ability. Hope you do it again next year.”
“I LOVE this event. It’s the one I look forward to most in the year.”
Club Corner: Community, Collaboration & Competition
June kicked off with our first four regional club calls – a fantastic way for club members to share ideas, challenges, and opportunities. Topics included improving accessibility, growing local race offerings, and boosting member engagement.
We also released the latest Club Newsletter, packed with useful content to share. Next up: the Coach Newsletter, which will feature open water coaching tips and a celebration of everything our amazing clubs have accomplished this month.
That’s a wrap for June!
We’ll be back next month with more updates from across the sport. Until then, best of luck to everyone racing, coaching, volunteering, and cheering on from the sidelines. You make the swim bike run community what it is.–
